Beginners brows on a budget

Forget the smokey eye and the statement lip these days it’s all about the bold brow…

No one could have predicted we would be putting so much time and effort into preening and perfecting our eyebrows but with the undeniable influence of Cara Delevingne, big bushy brows have never been more popular!

This is not a look for everyone but even if you wouldn’t call yourself a brow connoisseur you cannot deny that good eyebrows can change the shape of your face and make eyes look bigger, overall giving you a more completed and complimentary make up look.

This eyebrow craze is not just for the younger generation it doesn’t matter what age you are, grooming your brows is relevant to all age groups.

So what products will you need to achieve this look?

Personally my favourite eyebrow product is Benefit's Browzings, which I have raved about in a previous blog. This kit comes complete with a powder, setting wax, a mini tweezers and 2 mini eyebrow brushes but at €35 it is not going to be in everyone's budget so I set out to find some affordable eyebrow products and I was very surprised by some of the little gems I discovered...

This eyebrow pencil from Catrice Cosmetics is as good as any high end alternative I have tried. It is available in 3 shades and comes complete with a brush on one end for grooming. The pencil has more of a powdery texture rather than a wax, the brush on the end means if you get a little carried away and end up with a "Scouse brow" as they call it you can simply brush through and remove as much product as necessary. With a price tag of only €2.99 this is the perfect buy for starters. I purchase mine in Penneys.

The collection "work the colour" Eyebrow kit is perfect for those who prefer powders to pencils.
It comes complete with 3 powders, a clear brow mascara for setting and a brush applicator. This is a brilliant alternative to Benefit Browzings for 1/7th of the price. Pick this up in boots for €4.99.
If the idea of filling in eyebrows is completely alien to you but you would like to give it a go without having to make any new purchases then the simplest thing to do is use a matte brown eyeshadow, try to find one that is not too dark. Then have a dig around your make up bag for an angled brush and give it a go. If you like the results then you can go ahead and invest in some specific eyebrow products. MAC "Mystery" is the perfect shade for filling in brows!

Finally the most important thing to remember is we can’t all pull off the Cara Delevingne eyebrow look..it is very easy to forget this as once you get started with the brows it can be easy to get carried away, myself included...oops :)

Thanks for reading.
