Changing My Lifestyle

Image
When I first joined Slimming world I weighed 10 stone 6lbs and My worst nightmare would have been to step foot in a gym!  I now weigh 9 stone on the button and if I don't make it to the gym at least 4 times a week I don't feel myself! 20lbs may not seem like that much but it has made such a difference to my life. I have never felt healthier, happier or fitter and I never want to feel any different!  It's one thing to look good but to feel good is what we should all be aspiring to, there are so many diets/ nutritional plans etc. out there and everyone has different opinions and thinks their way is the best way! I am certainly no fitness guru but I would say do what works best for you, do what makes you feel good and don't give up!  There have been times when I felt like giving up but I just had to remind myself how sluggish, tired and lazy I felt before I decided to change my lifestyle!  Keep going and even when you don't see results remember ...

Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff

Image
This pink blob and pale skin can only mean one thing...It's Tan Thursday! Putting new tan over layers of old tan never gives a good result no matter what tan you use! So I have been prepping my skin all week with this Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff. It removes  old layers of tan, exfoliates and leaves skin feeling smoothe and supple ready for the next tan application. I use this product on average 3 times a week especially on stubborn areas such as elbows, knees and ankles! For me it works best while in the shower using an exfoliating mit. This product was developed by Marissa Carter to avoid build up of tan resulting in patches, blotches and scaly looking skin! I have tried similar products which came with much higher price points that did nowhere near as good a job as Tough Stuff.  Tough Stuff has bec...

Beauty on a budget

Image
These days I can't afford to be a make up snob.  Don't get me wrong I still love my high end products but when your Mac bronzer runs out and you just can't afford to buy a new one until payday it is a great opportunity to try out a more pocket friendly alternative! Some products are definitely worth splurging on and in some cases there is no doubt that spending the money at the start will save you money in the long run but this is not always the case. Here are some products that I have recently replaced with much cheaper drug store alternatives and I haven't looked back since...  Mac Mineralize Skin Finish Natural Replaced with: L'oreal Glam Bronze For years I was dedicated to my Mineralize skinfinish natural but when you are using a product every single day you go through it so quickly and at €30 a pop it was becoming an expensive habit.  So after hearing some good reviews I decided to try L'oreal Glam Bronze  and I ca...

Beginners brows on a budget

Image
Forget the smokey eye and the statement lip these days it’s all about the bold brow… No one could have predicted we would be putting so much time and effort into preening and perfecting our eyebrows but with the undeniable influence of Cara Delevingne, big bushy brows have never been more popular! This is not a look for everyone but even if you wouldn’t call yourself a brow connoisseur you cannot deny that good eyebrows can change the shape of your face and make eyes look bigger, overall giving you a more completed and complimentary make up look. This eyebrow craze is not just for the younger generation it doesn’t matter what age you are, grooming your brows is relevant to all age groups. So what products will you need to achieve this look? Personally my favourite eyebrow product is Benefit's Browzings, which I have raved about in a previous blog. This kit comes complete with a powder, setting wax, a mini tweezers and 2 mini eyebrow brushes but at €35 it is not going to ...

Splurge Vs Save

Image
These days we are all looking for ways to save money and while it can be more cost effective to splurge on certain cosmetic items  there is no denying that there are some amazing drug store alternatives and dupes out there! In this blog I will compare a really popular high end mascara to a much cheaper drug store brand. Benefit ‘They’re Real’ (€26)  Vs.   Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ (€11.99) They’re Real is the No.1 selling mascara in the UK but sometimes it can be the ‘brand’ and the hype rather than the quality of the product that sucks us consumers in so let’s compare both of these products and see if it is worth spending the extra money on the high end product… Amount of product: With 9 grams of product The Falsies wins this one but only slightly as They’re Real comes in with 8.5 grams. Longevity: Both mascaras lasted the recommended 6 months expiry period before drying out. Packaging: Neither mascara has the most luxu...

Best of 2013

Image
These are products that really stood out for me in 2013 and ones which I would happily recommend to anyone... Best foundation   Chanel   Vitalumiere Aqua As a fan of full coverage foundations this one would not have been a typical choice for me. As it says in the name it is water based and does not give a lot of coverage, however after hearing wonderful things about Vitalumiere Aqua I decided that I just had to have it in my life! The lightweight formula feels so fresh and smooth on your skin you will forget that you are wearing it. If you feel like you are smothering your skin by using full coverage/matte foundations all the time this will be a brilliant alternative for you. It won’t cover blemishes but that’s what concealer is for.  Absolutely Beautiful for daytime make up.   Best mascara   Maybeline   The falsies Forget Benefit’s “They're Real” In my opinion Maybeline have done a better job with this mascara. It co...
